Supersonic - Oasis film
|
Went and saw this tonight, thought it was excellent. Very funny in places with great humour from both Liam and Noel. Got some great footage as well. West Ham get a few mentions. First recollecting an overnight brawl on a ferry to Holland when they were supporting The Verve in Feb 94, the band tell how they rowed with West Ham fans in the casino. Also there's great footage of the band celebrating our draw V Man U in 95 that denied Man U the title and gave it to Blackburn. They are at the studio in Wales recording Morning Glory. 'Come on you Hammers' is heard before a fire extinguisher is let off while. Def worth a watch. I'm off to dust down my cd's and dig that t shirt out....

Son of Anarchy Noel says the same thing in one bit, something along the lines of it being the last time to experience something big before the birth of the Internet and everything changed. Got some great footage of the Earls Court shows. The crowd bouncing with not a mobile phone in sight...the good old days

Will hopefully get to see it at some point.
My first Oasis gig was in Cambridge Dec 94. Drove up after we'd just lost at QPR. I'd seen Noel guesting with Ian McNabb in June and no one had a clue who he was. They died as a live band after 1995, but still made fantastic music.

I lived in Manchester from early 94 to the end of 98, what a place to be in your 20's, this band came along in 94 and Liam was right! Their rise to fame was of biblical proportions!
Saw them perform at Maine Road, best concert ever.

Only 97mde, the wanker's wanker, would make a statement that a band like Oasis died as a live act one year after forming despite them selling out gig after gig for over ten years after.
Coveniently he saw them just one month before the start of their demise as a live act.
What a wanker.

Think about it though Johnson. If he was seen in the crowd they would have lost all credibility.

Saw them in Cardiff in 94. Someone spat at Liam and he walked off for 10minutes. They were all singing 1-0 cos cardiff beat city in the fa cup around that time... Was Blake the goalscorer?!?
Like the Roses, the beauty of this band were in their b-sides

Makes me feel fucking old. Queued up from 5 or 6am with a mate to get tickets in person from a box office. None of this ticketmaster log on at 0859 am and keep thumping refresh and crossing your fingers stuff.

Likewise- a couple of my friends saw them at the Boat race in Cambridge (pub/venue) which held about 100-200 people max.
It's a cocktail bar now, and sadly missed. Lots of really big bands passed through there in their very early days.

I saw them on every tour from 1994 up until 2009. They were just going through the motions after Earls Court. I used to go in hope that they would return to what they used to be. Never happened.
